On Saturday the 29th of March from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm we had to switch our electricity off for Earth Hour. Earth Hour is organised by WWF to help the world that we live in. WWF has brought the world together to raise awareness about how much energy we use everyday and how it could change the world if we together to make change happen. It gives us a chance to think about the small things we can do everyday to help create a brighter future. At Arnage School we made stars and wrote our wish for the planet on them. We then shaped it into a constellation of a shark. Some of the pupils switched their electricity off including Ewan. He switched his electricity off then played glow in the dark Top Trumps with his dad and sister. Abby’s family also turned off their lights. Abby was sleeping, but her mum took the dog for a walk during that hour! Over the 154 countries, millions of people have shown their support including Premier League teams Arsenal, Cardiff City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur who all came together and supported Earth Hour this year. They switched off all non-essential lighting during the hour to show their support for this global event, to show they cared about the planet.
